Meet Catherine

Partner and Co-Founder

Prior to establishing Farrell Rose Migration Lawyers, Catherine practised at Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers for over a decade, most recently as a partner. 

Catherine has been recognised as an accredited specialist in immigration law by the Law Institute of Victoria since 2020 and was recently included in the 17th edition of the Best Lawyers in Australia for Immigration Law in 2025.  

Catherine advises across the entire spectrum of immigration law, including but not limited to judicial review applications in the High Court of Australia, Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court of Australia. She represents both migration and refugee applicants in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and assists with visa applications, cancellations and character matters.

Catherine is currently serving as co-chair of the Migration Law Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria.

Meet Bethany

Partner and Co-Founder

Bethany has eight years’ experience in immigration and refugee law both internationally and domestically. She worked for a number of years at Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers, as a decision maker at the UNHCR in Thailand, as an Associate to a Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria and for two years, led a team of lawyers at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. She was the 2022 winner of the Law Council of Australia’s John Gibson Young Australian Migration Lawyer of the Year.

Bethany advises across the migration program with particular expertise in family, humanitarian and refugee visa categories as well as complex character cancellation and immigration detention work. Bethany’s practice is client-centric and trauma informed. Bethany serves on the general committee of Liberty Victoria as well as the Law Institute of Victoria’s Refugee Law Reform Committee and the Visa Cancellations Working Group.

Meet Isabel

Senior Immigration Lawyer

Isabel is an experienced immigration lawyer who advises across the migration program and has experience assisting clients at all stages including in merits review matters before the Administrative Review Tribunal and in judicial review matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Federal Court of Australia and High Court of Australia. In particular, Isabel’s work focusses on refugee and humanitarian matters, complex family migration and character and identity issues in visa and citizenship applications. 

Isabel joined Farrell Rose as a senior lawyer in May 2025 after working for a number of years as a solicitor at Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers. Isabel also has experience working as an associate and a legal officer at the (then) Administrative Appeals Tribunal.   

Isabel is also passionate about law reform and advocacy and is a current member of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Refugee Law Reform Committee. 

Meet Holly

Immigration Lawyer

Holly is an enthusiastic lawyer who was admitted to legal practice in November 2024. She studied both a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Studies at Deakin University, Geelong.

Holly volunteered with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre for more than a year before joining the Farrell Rose team. Holly takes a kind and empathetic approach to all client interactions. She is passionate about refugee advocacy and protection visa work. Holly knew since she was 16 that she wanted to be a refugee and immigration lawyer, so she could give people a chance to be heard and afforded safety in Australia.

Holly also enjoys working on partner visa applications. She has experience drafting statutory declarations and legal submissions for a wide range of visa subclasses. Her favourite part of any day is meeting with clients to help them share their life stories. She is a kind, yet passionate advocate for all clients she engages with.

Meet Jasmine

Immigration Lawyer

Jasmine joined Farrell Rose Migration Lawyers in 2026 and has over four years’ experience working in migration law, with experience across many visa subclasses at the Department and Tribunal level. Jasmine started her migration career as a legal assistant at Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers before becoming a lawyer at the firm. Most recently she worked as a Migration Lawyer at Inner Melbourne Community Legal, where she provided migration advice and casework for clients living in social housing and referred through health justice partnerships.  While at IMCL, Jasmine ran the migration clinic and attended community outreaches. She also broadened her legal practice, working in family violence and victims of crime law.

Jasmine is passionate about assisting clients through the complex and, often, unfair migration system. She is passionate about legal advocacy and is a current member of the LIV’s Migration Law Reform Committee.

Meet John

Legal Trainee

John is a dedicated law graduate who is completing a Supervised Legal Traineeship at Farrell Rose, having graduated from studying a Juris Doctor at RMIT University in November 2024. Before studying law, John completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), majoring in history with a focus on Africa and the Middle East. These studies motivated John to pursue a career in refugee and immigration law, so that he could use his passion for global history and justice to help clients to share their stories and start a new life in Australia.

John has over three years of experience in migration law, having previously worked as a Paralegal at our firm and volunteering at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. While completing his Juris Doctor, John also worked in the legal team at the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and as a Research Assistant in international law at RMIT University. He has experience drafting complex legal submissions and statutory declarations across many visa subclasses, with a particular expertise in protection visas and character cancellation cases.

 

Meet Varenka

Legal Assistant

Varenka is a Legal Assistant at Farrell Rose Migration Lawyers, joining in early 2024 after completing a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of International Studies at Deakin University. She supports the legal team with client intake, drafting forms, and preparing documents for visa applications and reviews. 

Originally from Mexico, Varenka’s own migration experience, combined with volunteering at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and a placement with Legal Aid Ghana, gives her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by migrants and refugees. Her strong communication skills, attention to detail, and client-focused approach are backed by over a decade of experience in client-facing roles. 

Varenka plans to begin Practical Legal Training this year and work toward admission to practice.

Meet Tiffany

Executive Legal Assistant

Tiffany serves as an Executive Legal Assistant, providing comprehensive administrative support to our lawyers and assisting with the efficient operation of the practice. Her positive and adaptable approach is shaped by a foundation in administration, information technology, and personal support roles. 

Passionate about the impact immigration law has on clients’ lives, Tiffany is dedicated to creating a positive experience throughout the legal process. With strong client-facing experience, she values clear communication and empathy, ensuring clients feel informed and supported during what can be a complex and emotional journey.
