Meet John Ishak
John is a dedicated law graduate who is completing a Supervised Legal Traineeship at Farrell Rose, having graduated from studying a Juris Doctor at RMIT University in November 2024. Before studying law, John completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), majoring in history with a focus on Africa and the Middle East. These studies motivated John to pursue a career in refugee and immigration law, so that he
could use his passion for global history and justice to help clients to share their stories and start a new life in Australia.
John has over three years of experience in migration law, having previously worked as a Paralegal at our firm and volunteering at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
While completing his Juris Doctor, John also worked in the legal team at the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and as a Research Assistant in international law at RMIT University. He has experience
drafting complex legal submissions and statutory declarations across many visa subclasses, with a particular expertise in protection visas and character cancellation
cases.
